On the cusp of retirement and what they hope will be the gentle twilight of their lives, Mary is diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer. Mary’s acceptance of the disease comes into conflict with her husband George’s desire for her to battle it. As they navigate the unfamiliar and intimidating world of cancer treatment, their love blossoms into its fullest expression. Its themes are universal: imperfect love, acceptance, and reconciliation. It documents the hard decisions and emotional and physical tolls that the disease exacts. It provides a meditation on love, marriage, regret, and death. It shows the resiliency of the human spirit as the characters unexpectedly find joy and a deeper appreciation for each other while facing the disease. They learn that a cancer diagnosis isn’t a death sentence but a call to live life to the fullest.
